RideAmigos is a US-based commuter engagement hub used by businesses and communities to help commuters overcome parking, traffic and pollution issues. Thousands of organisations, including top employers, government agencies, and universities use RideAmigos to incentivise commuters to make smarter choices — thus reducing congestion, parking demand, and environmental impact. The main features include multi-mode travel dashboards, incentives and reward systems, and intelligent ride mapping. RideAmigos’ powerful platform and apps bring together a broad range of fragmented mobility solutions backed up by behavioral science to change the way the world commutes.

The brief.

The RideAmigos.com platform was already offering excellent service, but there were significant challenges in terms of usability, design, and visual language. To become a leading global commuting services provider as rapidly as possible, RideAmigos entrusted us with the following tasks: enhancing the user experience, creating a more recognisable brand, and designing a digital product that consumers would love to use.

The solution.

Our solution focused on aligning user experience with RideAmigos’ core business goals. By evaluating key business KPIs and streamlining design efforts, we visualised solutions through design prototypes. We simultaneously developed the product design and a comprehensive visual language, crystallising the RideAmigos brand from the web platform, which served as the central hub. Embracing the concept of utopian environmentalism, we created a distinctive visual identity with unique illustrations, color schemes, and typography. User testing was integral, ensuring the user interface met expectations. We extended this visual language to the companion app and corporate website, enhancing the brand’s recognition. Introducing personable characters, we brought the brand to life, embedding them in relatable scenarios to explain app functionalities and foster user engagement. This approach resulted in a cohesive and engaging user experience across all digital platforms.

The outcome.

Our final solution encompasses several advantages — a memorable and visually appealing brand design, an exceptional UX and a simple user interface for the mobile app. The visual language of the mobile app and the web app were unified, and visual storytelling was also used to make the service more understandable. The brand was generally more emotionally charged and the fun of using it was put in the foreground.

In the six months following the launch of the redesigned mobile app and platform, RideAmigos saw increases in adoption and engagement across the board:

  • 43% increase in registered users

  • 250% more mobile app users

  • 288% more trips logged by app users

  • 115% higher website traffic

  • 52% higher conversion rates

  • 3x better lead quality.
