The Opportunity

The Client Technology Portfolio Director will be directly underpinning the 2023 focus on enterprise customer development. Build trust and rapport with senior stakeholders in named accounts, understand and influence their strategies, provide multi-party tech advice, solve challenges, and drive Ascent's product roadmap while producing case studies and event successes.

You will

Be the overall account technical services portfolio owner for 2 or 3 of our most valuable enterprise clients
Shape the new role with the Ascent Head of Enterprise Services, CCO & CTO in way that works best for Ascent, our customers and your talents
Use your knowledge of Azure, dev ops , data or analytics to build solutions for our accounts
Build trusted and value-based relationships with senior customer stakeholders
Own end-to-end service/solution value propositions (supported by internal and customer teams)
Manage account cadence and steering
Forecast and own account roadmap, revenue and capacity plan
Drive Ascent product, portfolio and recruitment roadmaps/owners as a key internal customer
Ensure enterprise account sustainability and growth, without single points or services of failure
Lead, evangelise and promote your accounts internally and externally where appropriate
Lead a team of technology SMEs, commercial/legal support and on occasion our Ascent’s executive to provide account value

You have

Successfully owned and sold a broad range of med-high value tech services/solutions to large/enterprise customers.

Knowledge of building solutions with Azure, dev ops , data or analytics
A strong customer value focus
Proven team, opportunity and solution management experience
An ability to build confidence with integrity
Extensive experience as a sales or delivery SME across a wide range of modern technologies
A strong motivation to learn, grow Ascent based on results and define your career here in the process.

Senior Data Engineer

About the role

As a Senior Data Engineer at Ascent, you get to work at the heart of our customer businesses to understand their data needs, identify possible problems and help them develop solutions. You’ll join our practice of market-leading data professionals and work typically as part of a cross-functional team on customer projects, supporting their journey through digital transformation, or helping them do existing things in a much better way.

What you'll do

As a Senior Data Engineer, you’ll work to design and create pipelines that transform data in a scalable and repeatable way. Producing efficient code that automates the process of ingesting and cleaning the data, you then develop and apply appropriate mechanisms so that data flows toward target data sources as required.
Depending on the project, your daily responsibilities could be quite varied, but typically our Data Engineers:

Understand, build and develop ETL and data integration solutions using a wide array of technologies and data sources
Work with data and big data components and migration strategies
Work with cloud-based infrastructure (Google, AWS, and Azure) for hosting data solutions and applications.

You’ll also get called on from time to time to support Ascent marketing colleagues, pre-sales teams and key partners with some subject matter expertise in data engineering.

Skills and experience required

We’re looking for people with good data engineering skills, and you’ll ideally bring with you:

Proven role experience in developing ETL and data integration solutions
Good knowledge of the Azure data engineering stack - Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, Azure Data Lake, Azure Blob, Cosmos DB
Capability in using Databricks, Snowflake and/or Spark
Good experience in a general programming – ideally Python

You’ll have experience working with data warehouse solutions, extracting and processing data in various ways using off-the-shelf tools and open-source tools. You’ll also be really familiar working with Linux or Windows operating systems and version control systems (Git).

We work in Agile methodologies as a preference, so being comfortable working in this way is important. You should be comfortable in a customer facing situation where you’ll need to communicate clearly and effectively in English – often with people who might not be as technically experienced, so good written and verbal English skills are important. You should be someone who is passionate about team collaboration and knowledge sharing, with the passion and drive to achieve goals and targets. We value empathy in our colleagues, and it’s important you bring a growth mindset and a willingness to learn and adapt.
